Forest Lake Area Schools - Independent School District 831

    Athletics

Our philosophy at the junior high level is for everyone to have an opportunity to participate and have fun in our athletic programs no matter what their ability. How much each athlete participates in games and contests depends on:

    • Attendance
    • Attitude
    • Work ethic
    • Number of participants out for the sport

    Practices:

7th and 8th grade practices run from 2:20-4:40pm Mondays – Thursdays.  We do not practice during holidays, breaks, days off from school, or conference days. If your student/athlete is at school, they are expected at practice. If they are not in school please send a note with them on their return - those absences will be excused. If they need to stay after for some help in a class, have them bring a note from their teacher when they are finished. Absences from practice will affect playing time. Three unexcused absences will result in removal from the team.

9th grade sports and high school sports for 7th-12th grade may have a different practice schedule and should be confirmed by the coach for each sport.

    Games:

Games typically start at 3:30 or 4:00pm and end at 6:00 pm or after.  Transportation to and from the game is provided by the school.  All athletes are expected to have a ride home within 30 minutes after arriving back to school from an away game.  The first time a student is not picked up within this time frame they will be given a warning.  If they do not have a ride home within 30 minutes a second time, they will not participate in the next game.  If this should happen a third time, they will be removed from the team.  No refund will be given.

Schedules can be found on this site or by calling 982-8700

Additional Information about High School Sports:

A number of district sports programs are actually a combination of junior high and senior high athletes. While this mixture may have little effect on the practicing and competing for the athletes at the junior high level, management of the teams and coaches is done at the high school level. To look for additional information about high school sports, go to the high school's activities page. The following sports are considered "high school sports", many of which have their own web pages with additional information.
